11/11/04 : Paulo Schroeber, message to the fans

Check out the message from Paulo Schroeber to the fans, regarding his absence during the last Almah's shows in Brazil :

"I have a serious hereditary problem since childhood, which is dilated cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) and I'm not 100% sure that I could give all myself in Almah's shows and therefore I can't come to the events of the band scheduled to the end of year because I'm in intensive care and need more time to recover, it's a diseases that has its ups and downs, it's the normal way, and are things that I'm used to live because I was born with this problem.

But even still I don't feel with all my potential, I'll continue working on the release of Motion, and recordings for future clips of the band.

I believe that in all these problems, always appear the positive side, as we become more united today, and the spirit of unity in the band is increasingly present and strong, because with all these difficulties, I can say that Almah became a large family to us, because for sure, and I'm speaking with an open heart, I feel I'm playing with my friends, above all, money and recognition are well below of that.

I'm sure that my band's mates will do a competent job and soon we will be together again in 2012 to play and show what Almah really worth.

I appreciate the support of all people, my band's mates, and especially the fans, without them none of this could be achieved.

Dear friends,

At last I would like to clarify some facts about my voice with all the sincerity, humility and integrity that I may have.

For over 20 years I have worked without a day off in the Heavy Metal style, and we all know how difficult and technically demanding it is. Joining Angra I had to fit a particularly high way of singing, which was totally out of my range, and of the vast majority of the singers! At the time I took the responsibility and faced all the pressure. But 10 years ago it was much easier due to the physical factor, excitement and age. I started to feel, year after year, gradually, the difficulties of singing something so high and out of my natural trait. I fought to the end! I did everything possible to continue to sing the songs, particularly the old ones, always in high pitches, because the melodic metal audience has ever “demanded” this of us singers. But unfortunately, today, older and more experienced, I assume that I am no longer able to sing so high. I am extremely tired and feeling the weight of all that in my voice, including the region that has always been the most comfortable for me! I’m a baritone singer who dominates the mediums and lows, with drive, singing with a more aggressive chest voice, as I did in Symbols and do in Almah. I have conquered many things and built much of my story with my own style.

Therefore, I made a decision, thinking only and exclusively about the health of my voice and integrity of my career, which I have built with so much struggle and dedication. After fulfilling all the promotional activities of Motion, scheduled until the end of the year, I will stop indefinitely to finally rest and be able to deal properly with my health. But I have to point out that from today on I’ll just sing whatever is in my natural range, be it in Angra or any other band, for my own good! I want to be who I really am, instead of being what people want me to be! In the meantime, I’ll continue with my activities as a producer and composer, which are things I love doing, and will not harm at all the progress of my recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fans who always supported me and defend me unconditionally! I will always do my best writing and singing good music for you guys, with all my truth and emotion! This is the first step to a new time in my life! I have confidence in the future and will always be passionate about the greatest music ever, HEAVY METAL!

Almah presents the new Motion Myspace layout based on the artwords and idea of the upcoming third studio album. The layout has been designed by João Duarte (J.Duarte Design, MS Metal Press), a well-known name in the rock&metal field due to his work with such bands and companies as Edu Falaschi, Angra, Korzus, Circle To Circle, Kattah, Torture Squad among others.

Motion was recorded in São Paulo, Brazil at Norcal Studios in May-June 2011. The album was mixed and mastered at Split Second Sound Studios (Amsterdam, Netherlands) by Jochem Jacobs (TEXTURES) in July. The release dates are the following: October 14th (Europe, North America / AFM Records), September 16th (Brazil / Laser Company), October 14th (Latin America / Icarus Records), October 19th (Japan / Victor JVC). Japanese edition of Motion will contain a bonus track.

Past Monday Edu Falaschi, Felipe Andreoli and Marcelo Barbosa started a short promo tour presenting the upcoming album of the band Motion. The first part of the trip takes place in Tokyo, Japan where the musicians give series of the interviews and will play special acoustic sessions in Shinjuku Rock Inn Current (Tokyo) on September 14.

Brazilian-based metallers Almah proudly present a new song from the upcoming album Motion which will be released on October 14th via AFM Records. For the online debut of the new CD Almah created a video clip for the song “Trace of Trait” with its own story and professional production. The footage was done in Caxias do Sul, a city in the South of Brazil at the end of August under direction of producer and photographer Alex Milesi. The video is available on the official channel of the band in Youtube :


"We had an idea to prepare something special for our fans, that’s why we decided to release not simply some audio single but a full-fledged Video Clip! – commented Almah’s frontman Edu Falaschi: - We have chosen “Trace of Trait” for the first presentation of Motion because this song is very strong in many ways… and I’m totally sure that it represents well the language and identity of Almah! We worked with this director, Alex Milesi, for the first time. He is a very nice man and he had various good ideas for us. Everything during the shooting went on very well and we are very happy with the result."

We are proud to announce that a brand new online Single from the upcoming album Motion will be available for streaming from September 8th via the official channel of the band in Youtube.

The single will represent the new face and direction of Almah. After successful power metal masterpiece “Fragile Equality” released in 2008, Almah returns with the 3rd studio effort “Motion” as an experienced matured band with many new ideas and without any fear to be up-to-date and to move forward towards its own language and identity.

According to Almah’s frontman Edu Falaschi, "for the first presentation of the new CD the band has chosen a song that represents Almah of today in the best way. You’ll hear a track with fantastic chorus, beautiful and catchy melody, amazing guitar solos and heavy agressive parts. Believe me: the result is very nice, crazy and creative!"

The trip of the artists will begin in Japan, and then will passing through France and Germany, where they will be featured in several broadcastings on TV and radios, magazines, webzines, in add to some acoustic performences closed to selected fans and media specialists.

Victor JVC and AFM Records, labels responsible for launching Motion in Japanese and European markets, are in charge of this whole promotrip organization, which will end on September 19.

Brazilian metallers Almah will release their new album Motion via AFM Records this fall (the date will be announced soon). The new material was recorded at Norcal Studios (São Paulo, Brazil) in May-June 2011 and mixed and mastered at Split Second Sound Studios (Amsterdam, Netherlands) by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) in July. The album is produced by Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli. The track list is confirmed as follows:

Almah has recently finished the recording, mixing and mastering of its brand new album Motion that will see the light of day via AFM records this fall (the scheduled release date is to be announced very soon). At the end of July the musicians returned to live activities: Almah played its first shows since Fragile Equality tour (finished in June 2010) – the band successfully performed at Forcaos and Armazed do Som festivals at the Northeast of Brazil at the end of July. Now the band is preparing for the upcoming Motion release and tour. Meanwhile, guitarist Marcelo Barbosa comments on Almah, new album and the recent shows:

"Actually, I play in a few bands, and every one is special in its own way. Besides the fact that ALMAH is the most famous one among them and it has an opportunity to travel more playing live, the band is about to release a new album! It’s always a challenge and as usual it’s a very special feeling of this cold in the stomach when you have no idea what comes next. I’m very happy that the band is back on stage and I’m looking forward to the moment when everyone will hear the work that we’ve recorded. All of us are really excited with the final result.

At the end of July we played the first live shows after a big break. We spent more than a year without playing live on stage but even the first rehearsal showed good sound and great team work. It’s interesting, especially taking into account all the conditions.... Moreover, some song parts sounded even more natural and it was easier to play them. Of course, we have very good musicians in the band, but the songs, especially from Fragile Equality album, have very high technical level. And I believe, no one expected that it would be so easy to come back to live activities! I’m convinced that with more time and more rehersals for the upcoming Motion Tour ALMAH will sound so great on stage as never before!

I was really excited with the recent shows in the city of Fortaleza, I know this public very good because I’ve already played there 6 times (also with my other band – Khallice). But not only the feelling of this great audience or of coming back with Almah made this trip so special… We received the master of our new album Motion exactly when we were staying there, and we’ve listened to the ready master with the new material for the first time while on the road. We made our new photo session during the tour as well, because the band members live in different cities and we took the most from this opportunity of staying all together.

Actually, everything in this tour went on very well. Almah is a funny band with a good sense of humour. To stay close to these guys always means that a lot of fun is guaranteed! Especially with Paulo and Moreira which have a natural way to be funny. It’s impossible to spend even one day without laughing a lot. And of course, I couldn’t miss the opporutinity to go to the beach with some friends ‘cos my home city is in 1000km from the nearest seashore...

Well, I hope to visit as many places as possible with the future Motion Tour to present our new work live and to have fun playing this stuff! I’m totally sure that this CD will kick ass and let’s see what happens next!"

Last week Almah played a short “warm-up” tour around the Northeast of Brazil including two headlining shows at the famous 13th ForCaos (Fortaleza) and Armazem do Som (Juazeiro do Norte) festivals, and series of supporting events such as singing sessions, a pocket show and workshops. Almah came back to live activities after a one-year break and the band was highly acclaimed by the public at all the events. The musicians are looking forward to the upcoming release and tour of Motion. Meanwhile, Almah’s bass player Felipe Andreoli revealed a few details about the recent gigs, see his story below.

Felipe Andreoli (bass): “It was very pleasant to hit the stage with Almah again after one year. Not only because I love the music, but also because we always have a good time together, as friends. It’s a very special and privileged relationship. We had a couple of rehearsals just to take the rust off our hands - and throats, for that matter, but it was surprisingly easy to put everything together as far as performance and sound. It honestly didn’t seem like we hadn’t played together one year ago. It felt more like a little while. What’s funny is that we seem to play better together every time, even when we don’t play for months!”

About the best things and the main challenges of this tour Felipe answers the following:
“The audience of the Northeast in Brazil is something special and unique. The energy we get from them keeps us motivated and fired up, even with all the traveling and the little sleep. When we get on stage there something special always happens.
I think the most challenging factor of being on tour is to be distant from your family. Of course we get tired, maybe even frustrated sometimes when things don’t go the way we planned, but the absence of the people you love is really the worst thing for me”.

But not only shows and rehearsals happened during this tour: “Moreira and I had a chance to go to the Beach Park in Fortaleza, which is a water park with lots of coasters and funny pipes that you get into, some are really scary! My friend Fabricio took us there in a sunny day, it was awesome. We even faced the biggest challenge of all, called "Insano", which is a 41 meters high vertical dive! Total adrenaline!”

Almah already started to prepare the new Motion World Tour: “I’d love to go everywhere, of course! But most of all, I’m really excited to play the new songs live, I believe they will work brilliantly! We’re really proud of Motion”.

The new CD “Motion” will see the light of day via AFM Records this fall. The release date will be announced soon. The album is produced by Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli.
